Here at The Gower School, we strongly believe that examinations are not the only measure of a child’s ability. However, most of our children do go on to attend selective senior schools in London, so we provide an extensive Senior School Preparation Programme for them.
Each year, TGS children gain entry to both selective state and independent schools – Camden School for Girls, Channing, City of London School, City of London School for Girls, Collège Français Bilingue de Londres, Dame Alice Owen, Dulwich College, Forest School, Francis Holland, Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls, Henrietta Barnett, Highgate, Maida Vale, Merchant Taylors’ School, North Bridge House School, North London Collegiate School, Portland Place, Queen’s College, Regents Park, Roedean School, South Hampstead High School, St Albans High School for Girls, St Marylebone CE School Wetherby Senior, St Mary Magdalene Academy, St Paul’s School, University College School and Westminster Under School.
Our children have also earned a wide variety of scholarships – including academic scholarships, major academic scholarships, music scholarships, and drama scholarships.
During the Autumn Term, our 11+ preparation allows each Form 6 child to build on their strengths, develop examination techniques and become confident with the requirements of the secondary school exams. To further support them, interview practice lessons take place every week and parents and friends of the school hold ‘Tuesday Talks’ when they discuss their own career history with the children. This, along with the teaching and discussion of current events, helps to bolster and widen the children’s awareness of the world.
