The Gower School primary pupils are maths whizzes! After honing their skills throughout the year in our school ‘Quiz Club’, four children in Forms 5 and 6 competed in the qualifying rounds of the National Inter-School Maths Quiz, a country-wide competition for primary pupils aged 8 to 11.
In the recent semi-finals competition in June, the children tested their maths knowledge in an online competition against 114 primary schools from all around the country. The quiz consisted of three timed rounds of increasing difficulty, with the live rankings made available after each set. The children’s nerves were high, but their adrenaline was pumping, and they came together to solve the problems as a team. After completing three rounds of amazingly quick calculations, The Gower School team ranked 10th in the overall competition.
The Gower School children were invited along with the top dozen teams to the The National Key Stage 2 Mathematics Championship Finals in July. This will take place on Monday 3rd July at the Examination Schools of Oxford University. This is such an amazing feat for our children to make the Finals, and we know they will represent The Gower School incredibly. We wish our four children the very best of luck in the upcoming competition.
