The Gower School offers excellent quality of school life to all nursery and primary children. All our sites have been designed to be creative and comfortable spaces for the children to learn and grow in. Whether they are in Nursery or Primary, they will have a key person in the classroom who parents can meet each term to discuss their child’s progress, and we have high staff-to-child ratios. The school uniform is worn by each student throughout the year, apart from Holiday Fun Club when the dress code is casual. Our skilled chefs prepare vegetarian home-cooked meals and the children get organic milk with their food.
The Nursery and Primary schools are open 48 weeks of the year including our Out of School Enrichment, such as Holiday Fun Club.
At the Nursery, the children’s day consist of a range of activities from Montessori learning to sensory play, language, sports, music and playtime in the garden.
Each morning at the Primary School all the children are greeted by a teacher at the school door to welcome them to the school by shaking their hand. As well as their regular curriculum subjects during the day, the children can also sign up for music lessons and Breakfast and After School Clubs.
On Friday mornings at our Primary School, we have an assembly in the New Hall with a variety of subjects discussed throughout the academic year. We also reveal House Points of the week and which House is in the lead. At the end of the year, the House Shield is presented with the name of the overall winning House engraved on the Shield, which is displayed at the school reception. Each week the children receive special mentions which are read out at the assembly by the Principal. These are awarded to the children based either on their efforts in sports, languages, science or music, or generally for demonstrating exemplary behaviour at the school.
