28th April 25
This past Saturday, 40 of our enthusiastic young runners took part in the Mini London Marathon. Children aged between 6 and 11 competed in either the 1-mile or 2.6km races, and showed great energy and determination throughout.
The race began at the Horse Guards Palace, took participants through St James’s Park, past Buckingham Palace, before finishing along the grand stretch of The Mall. The atmosphere was electric as the children raced along this route. As they crossed the finish line, each runner received a commemorative medal.
Our Head of Sport Mr Luca Bishop, teachers Miss Stevenson and Miss Woodham, and a group of enthusiastic parents supported the children throughout the day. Many parents ran alongside the children, offering encouragement and cheers for all. It was easy to spot our runners in the crowd, as they wore special t-shirts with the words “Run TGS Run” in our school colours, which were kindly organised by our school parent Mrs Globus. A huge thank you to all staff and parents for helping make this day so special.
An enormous thank you to Mr Bishop, who organised our school’s second participation in the Mini Marathon. His dedicated planning made for a fantastic experience for everyone involved.
It was an unforgettable day, and we are incredibly proud of all our runners. Well done, TGS!
